Position description

91°µÍø invites applications for the position of Head Coach, Women’s Soccer, competing in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) and U SPORTS.

The Head Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and administration of the Women’s Soccer program. This includes coaching, recruitment, student-athlete development, program planning, and community engagement. The successful candidate will foster a positive, inclusive, and high-integrity team culture aligned with 91°µÍøâ€™s commitment to academic excellence, student experience, and leadership development through sport. The program is committed to a positive, high-performance environment built on trust, open communication, and an athlete-centered approach to coaching women in sport.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Head Coach plays a key role in advancing Athletics as a strategic contributor to the University’s mission while supporting the holistic success of student-athletes.

The role also supports the continued growth of Women’s Soccer at 91°µÍø through community-based development initiatives and seasonal youth programming.

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coaching

  • Lead and coach a competitive AUS Women’s Soccer program
  • Develop and implement annual and long-term high-performance plans
  • Plan and deliver technical, tactical, physical, and psychological preparation for competition
  • Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship to support athletic and personal development
  • Recruit, select, and retain academically qualified U SPORTS-caliber student-athletes
  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff

Student-Athlete Experience & Administration

  • Foster a team culture that prioritizes academic success, well-being, and personal growth
  • Monitor academic progress and collaborate with campus support services
  • Promote leadership, citizenship, and community engagement among student-athletes

Program Administration

  • Assist with budget planning and responsible management of program resources
  • Coordinate team travel, scheduling, facilities, and equipment needs
  • Ensure compliance with 91°µÍø, AUS, U SPORTS, and Safe Sport policies
  • Support fundraising, alumni engagement, and program promotion initiatives

Community & University Engagement

  • Represent 91°µÍø positively within the soccer community locally, provincially, and nationally
  • Participate in departmental initiatives, recruitment events, and university outreach
  • Contribute to youth camps and development opportunities aligned with 91°µÍøâ€™s community engagement goals

Qualifications/skills

  • Minimum three (3) years of high-performance soccer coaching experience
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of contemporary coaching practices and athlete development
  • Commitment to student-athlete well-being, equity, and Safe Sport principles
  • Experience coaching in U SPORTS, AUS, or comparable post-secondary environments is an asset
  • NCCP National B License (or equivalent) is an asset
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
